Winners at the British Farming Awards 2026!

What a night for AgriStride! We’re thrilled that Vario has won Agri-innovation of the Year at the British Farming Awards 2026.

The award recognises Vario, our hybrid livestock flooring system designed to support cattle mobility, grip and welfare.

We collected the award on Thursday 15 October 2026 at The Vox in Birmingham, at a ceremony hosted by Farmers Guardian and supported by Morrisons.

The event brought together businesses and individuals from across British agriculture, with a live performance from Jeremy Clarkson’s Hawkstone Farmers’ Choir and Jeremy Clarkson himself among the guests.

Built to support real farmers

AgriStride was developed by our team at Lancashire-based Wolfenden Concrete, drawing on decades of precast manufacturing experience and a growing focus on cattle mobility and welfare.

Vario was co-invented by our Managing Director, Richard Moody, and his daughter, Jade Drury, after farmers told us about the problems they faced with conventional flooring. It took more than two years to engineer, as we worked to balance secure footing, cow comfort, structural requirements and slurry management.

Committed to tackling dairy cow lameness

Flooring plays a major part in dairy cow mobility and hoof health. Grip, surface condition, cleanliness and building layout all affect how confidently cattle move around their housing.

We designed Vario with this in mind. Its chevron pattern is intended to give secure footing while helping slurry clear, so farmers can look after cattle welfare and day-to-day cleaning together.

It also reflects our commitment to tackling dairy cow lameness. In May 2025, we signed the GB Dairy Cow Lameness Manifesto, an industry initiative aiming to reduce lameness prevalence to below 5% in at least 95% of British dairy herds by 2044. Housing, flooring and cow comfort are all part of the manifesto’s action plan, and we believe specialist systems like Vario have a role to play.

Building on our earlier recognition

This isn’t Vario’s first award. In 2024, it won both the Engineering Innovation Award and the Overall Innovation Award at the Great Yorkshire Show. Backed by approximately £600,000 of investment from Wolfenden Concrete, AgriStride is now in use on farms across the UK.

Reflecting on the latest award, Richard Moody said:

“Vario was developed around the challenges farmers face with cattle mobility and lameness, so to see that work recognised at the British Farming Awards means a great deal. It’s a fantastic achievement for Jade, myself and the whole team, and something we’re all very proud of.”

Thank you

We’d like to thank the British Farming Awards organisers and judges, and everyone who has supported AgriStride’s development. Above all, we thank the farmers whose feedback has shaped the range. We’ll keep developing flooring that responds to the real demands of cattle housing.
