AgriStride signs the GB Dairy Cow Lameness Manifesto
A 20-year commitment to healthier herds, with AgriStride flooring playing a key role in improving cow comfort and reducing lameness.
At AgriStride, we know that a healthy herd starts from the ground up. For over four decades, we've worked alongside British dairy farmers, helping create farm environments where cows can thrive. That's why we're proud to stand alongside the industry in signing the GB Dairy Cow Lameness Manifesto - a bold 20 year plan to reduce lameness to under 5% in 95% of herds in 2044.
It's an ambitious goal, but it's one we believe is vital for a sustainable, productive dairy industry.
Why Action 11 is in our DNA
Action 11 of the manifesto calls for better housing, flooring, and cow comfort - exactly what AgriStride was designed to deliver. Our hybrid slats combine durable, slip-resistant concrete with high-comfort rubber inserts to reduce lameness, improve hoof health, and support natural movement. The result? Healthier cows, lower vet bills, and better long-term farm performance.
Backing Actions 5, 9, and 16
We also support several other key actions:
- Action 5: encouraging whole-herd lameness recording
- Action 9: adopting farm-specific lameness reduction plans, like the 'Healthy Feet' programme
- Action 16: sourcing milk from herds that can demonstrate lameness levels at least twice a year
These align perfectly with our commitment to practical, measurable herd health improvements. While we don't provide the tailored farm management systems needed to implement these fully, we stand behind their value for the industry's future.
